Casa Emma Extra Virgin Olive Oil D.O.P. Chianti Classico is the by-product of an old tradition that dates back to the 14th century and has been handed down from generation to generation.
Our olive oil is obtained from various olive varieties that have been authorised by the Consortium of the Chianti Classico for their use: 50% Frantoio, 20% Moraiolo, 25% Leccino and 5% Pendolino.
During the harvest, our olives are individually hand-picked. They are then placed in special baskets with perforated sides to ensure the circulation of air, an important measure to ensure the freshness. Those olives are pressed within 24 hours of picking.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil in not only a principal ingredient in Tuscan cooking, but it is also very beneficial for our well-being.
Since the beginning of last century, there have been studies that show a correlation between the daily dietary intake of cholesterol and arteriosclerosis and coronary heart diseases.
Studies in the Mediterranean region suggest that diet rich in unsaturated fats can help and promote a healthier life with lower incidents od coronary heart diseases and cancer.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil contains concentrations of vitamin E, natural antioxidants and other substances that help with the so called “good cholesterol” . Together they can help to prevent damage to the cardiovascular system.
For this reason the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says: eating two tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil every day can reduce the coronary heart disease’s risk.
